Savoury Pies (Pirozhki)

Pirozhki, the small filled buns that do the work of a sandwich across Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Baked to order in Belgravia and delivered across London and Surrey, six to an order.

The fillings are the traditional ones. Cabbage and egg, which is what most people mean when they say pirozhki without specifying. Meat and cabbage, the most substantial of them. Caramelised onion with egg. Seasoned potato and onion, plain and filling and entirely vegetarian. Mushroom, cooked down with onion, which does a great deal of work during Lent. A rich liver filling for those who grew up with it. And apple, the sweet one, eaten with tea rather than soup.

The dough is enriched and soft rather than crisp, and the filling is generous, because a mean pirozhok is worse than none. They are very good warmed through for a few minutes in a low oven, and they freeze better than almost anything else here.

If you cannot choose, the pirozhki discovery box lets you build your own mix. At least 48 hours notice, delivered across London and Surrey.
