Description
A summer cake in the English manner, built from light sponge, whipped cream and fresh strawberries, and assembled on the day so the fruit is still fruit rather than jam. It is the least heavy cake in the collection and the one most often ordered for a garden party, a christening or a birthday where the weather is behaving.
What goes into it
- Soft sponge layers, brushed so they stay moist
- Whipped cream rather than buttercream, which keeps the whole thing light
- Fresh strawberries through the middle and over the top
Ordering
The cake is 18 cm and can carry a chocolate message or fresh flowers for a birthday. Strawberries are best in season and we buy accordingly, so if you are ordering in deep winter do ask what the fruit is looking like.
Baked to your delivery date in our Belgravia kitchen with at least 48 hours notice, and delivered across London and Surrey.
